Aduan Rakyat : Put an end to the problem concerning a football field

LABUAN: The Village Development and Security Committee of Kg Tanjung Aru and Gabungan Belia Tanjung Aru have demanded the government to put an end to the problem concerning a football field in the area.

The Village Development and Security Committee chairman, Hj Sulong Omar, claimed that the field is partly owned by an individual.

“Half of it is owned by an individual who has offered to sell it to the government. But the government is slow in taking action. We’re afraid that the field would be sold to others,” he said.

He said youths in the area do not want to lose the football field.

The village Umno branch head, Yahya Hj Bakri, echoed the same concern saying that the field is used by more than 1,900 residents in the area for community activities and not just football.

Another spokesperson, Harun Damit, said that the land owner had built his house in the area and part of the land had been offered to interested parties.

They called on the government to buy the property so that the field could still be used for their activities.

They said that they have been using the field for more than 50 years.
